One-Key Remote Access for Your Boat – the Future is Here!

Who doesn’t want to be able to start their boat like they start their car? Volvo Penta’s new Battery Management System features an e-Key remote, giving you the ability to do just that. Now unlocking and starting your boat can be just like getting into your sedan. You can actually control the entire driveline with just one key, and the new system boasts other innovative features for improving safety, security and uptime.

Volvo has come up with this system to follow their mission of “easier boating,” and the features of this new system certainly make life easier. Now there’s no need to search for the ignition keys and circuit breakers – both are controlled remotely from as far away as 100 meters! You can also link other electrical systems, like your boat’s lights, to the remote so they are on before you step onboard.

The e-Key remote also gives you better security from theft, since each e-Key is connected to the vessel with a unique identifier. Only a valid key can be used to operate the system – up to four e-Keys can be paired up with the vessel.

But that’s not the only cool new thing. The Battery Management System has some handy new features for easier boating. For instance, the system provides alerts on battery statuses and diagnostic information so you can catch issues before they become serious. In fact, the battery management display lets you monitor the voltage of the many batteries on your vessel right from the cockpit instead of going to all the location to check on them. Plus, if you go to start the battery and it’s weak, the system will automatically borrow energy from the auxiliary battery.

It’s no secret that we’re fans of Volvo Penta here at Cedar port Marina, but can you blame us? This is just another example of how the company is pushing the boundaries with innovative solutions to make life easier for us boaters.
